Amalia Broecker-Jakob
Amalia Broecker-Jakob, born in Yugoslavia in 1942, later lived in Opicina and devoted herself to art and poetry. Her works are characterized by a deep understanding of symbolism and the power of color. Themes such as the "apple" and nature are central motifs that she uses in her work to express emotional and psychological states. Her paintings combine symbolic meanings and individual reflections on life, with colors such as red representing vitality and gold representing embellishment.
Amalia's works include small-format paintings with strong expression, in which the symbolic apple plays a central role. Her painting technique, which is based on a combination of neo-divisionalism and sensitive color compositions, can be described as a search for the essential. Through her art she wants to convey the truth and state of life, sometimes melancholic and symbolistic at the same time.
In her art, Lia Broecker-Jakob combines color and sound into a unity and reads poems to introduce her works in order to increase the emotional density. She uses the symbolism of everyday objects such as threads, lace and apples to create a connection between personal expression and universal experiences. In her paintings, artistic interpretation merges with her biography and a constant search for identity and home.
Her works reflect both the struggle with one's own uprooting and the longing for belonging. Her symbols and color choices emphasize the dynamic between loss and hope. Lia's art rejects commercial consumerism and instead focuses on authentic expressions that offer psychological and emotional depth.
More about Lia Broecker-Jacob
artlia’s origins and the union of two artistic worlds
Amalia Bröcker-Jacob is the original force behind artlia. The history of the artlia gallery began with the search for a suitable name that reflects the word “art”. After careful consideration, the name “artlia” was chosen, which was not only phonetically appealing but also a perfect aesthetic fit for the logo. The gallery originally started under the domain artlia.de, as artlia.com was already used by the artist Amalia Bröcker-Jacob. Ultimately, the two artlia identities came together in order to bundle and strengthen the shared values and artistic philosophy.
