What does “Keep Calm and Carry On” mean?
“Keep Calm and Carry On” is a famous British motto from the year 1939. It was created at the start of the Second World War by the British Ministry of Information to encourage the people in a time of great uncertainty.
The message is deliberately simple: stay calm, do not panic, and continue everyday life despite difficult circumstances. It stands for composure, inner strength, and perseverance.
Although the original poster design was hardly used publicly during the war, it was rediscovered decades later. Since then, “Keep Calm and Carry On” has become a worldwide symbol for resilience and mental calm.
