What do we see in this work of art?
The monotype work of art “Dom Cat” shows the motif of a cat leaning against a wall, playful and almost with human composure. This mural comes from Jena artist Sergej Uchatsch. The latter has already painted several motifs of cats and each time brings his own distinctive painting style. The majority of the artwork is actually white. This directs our gaze to the center of the mural, but also creates a certain distance from the actual object. The house tiger leans relaxed with his back against a wall and looks the viewer directly in the eyes. You might get the impression that the cat feels caught because there are patches of color all around the animal. Maybe the animal, cheeky as cats can be, ate some of the freshly baked cake and scattered the tolerable remains around the area.
